have a getObject from a Resource and/or Property so that a Converter is used

Created: 24/Sep/06 05:00 PM   Updated: 24/Sep/06 05:40 PM
Component/s: Compass::Core
Affects Version/s: 1.1 M2
Fix Version/s: None

 Description  « Hide
I'd like to be able to use the Resource level of the Compass framework and not have to specify Converters in my code. I don't have to use it for storing objects into a Resource, but for getting them out, I can only get Strings. I am forced to explicitly use a Converter in my code instead of letting Compass do it for me.

In 1.1 M2, Property and Resource have getObject. You do have to specify the converter to use in the mapping definition, and it is because Compass does not know that a calendar is associated with a specified Calendar property. A requirement for Compass to know that a Calendar is associated with a certain property it means that it needs to store it in the index, which will make the index file bigger and less efficient.
